Client work may be discussed anonymously within supervision. Reasonable steps are taken to ensure that clients cannot be identified.

Record Keeping and Retention

I keep counselling records securely and only for as long as necessary to fulfil professional, legal, insurance, and ethical obligations.

Records may be stored electronically using password-protected systems and/or in secure physical storage.

Retention periods are as follows:

  • Adult client records: retained for 7 years      following the end of counselling.
  • Children and young people's      records: retained      until 7 years after the client's 18th birthday.

At the end of the retention period, records are securely destroyed.

I take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal information against:

  • Unlawful disclosure
  • Misuse or alteration

Stage 1: Informal Resolution

Where possible, concerns should first be discussed directly with me. Many issues can be resolved quickly through open communication.

Stage 2: Formal Complaint

If the matter cannot be resolved informally, a formal complaint may be submitted in writing by email or post.

  • A description of your      complaint
  • Any relevant dates or      supporting information
  • Details of the outcome you      are seeking

I will:

  • Acknowledge your complaint      within 5 working days
  • Investigate the matter      fairly and impartially
  • Provide a written response,      normally within 20 working days
  • Keep you informed if      additional time is required

If you remain dissatisfied after receiving my final response, or if you believe there has been a breach of professional standards, you may contact the professional body with which I am registered:
